A Christmas Poem

By Mary Francis "Busy Bee" Barnes

A Christmas tree, ablaze with light

stood with each bulb a shining bright.

Said one small light, no one will care

and so it ceased its shining there.

Some other light then did the same,

and o'er the tree a dimness came.

All because one little light

had dimmed and gone quite out of sight.

You see, it thought "no one will care

if I contribute not my share

of shining light - I am so small,

I am not seen nor missed at all.

The world is like this Christmas tree,

with lights like you and lights like me.

Each has a little space to fill

with courage, peace, and good will.
